I'm in the minority on "In Bruges", so.
It poked my heart a little bit (or attempted to) and I got what they were aiming at, just didn't think it was realised as well as it could've been.
And I didn't think Ray's distress over the central incident was believeable, which it needed to be.
I wasn't bothered about the language apart from it being a bit schoolyard. I guess McDonagh thought someone of that age, from that part of the world, would still be using those kinds of words. I loved the little scenes with the arms dealer - " Alcoves. Is that what you call them?"
Anyway, Mully - I can see how you'd say "Lars..." would be a one-trick pony, but there are a few
little twists and turns, it's not all straightforward. It was one of those films that lingered on in my head afterwards. I'd be curious to know what you think once you've seen it.
