star trek has been bled dry and the only way to rejuvenate the franchise was a clean slate....BUT because of the cult aspect, they couldn't just make a new movie pretending that the rest didn't happen. I really enjoyed it. It was a great summer movie. Considering the stigma attached to trekkies, they did a great job of making a 40 year old franchise accessible again.

Personally as a Star Trek film, its in the top 2. First Contact is the only Star Trek movie worth watching for me after that....after 5 (?) series of various ships, crews and ALOT of back and forth on the space time continuum thing, it was all over the place and i lost interest.......
these characters are familiar old friends and i think they did them justice........
But i get your point and thats fine........

i'll relate the idea when the bellies are celebrating their 40th anniversary...............now that would be interesting......

The X-men was fine, though a couple scenes were just over the top (the bike and helicopter scene was a painful reminder of M.I.2). We were debating whether we should go see Star Trek but the line was too long for my liking. I'd hate to end up having to sit right in front row with my neck craned back trying to see the big screen.

yeah we're not going to agree at all on this so best to move on...........but thats allowed with something like star trek!
