These are really just my top 5 at the moment, a proper 'of all time' list would take too much time and gut wrenching.

Astronautalis - Pomegranate
Joan As Policewoman - Real Life
Elbow - Asleep in the Back
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Joni Mitchell - Blue

Some Like It Hot
Shallow Grave
All About Eve
Heavenly Creatures
Dog Day Afternoon

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
No Word From Gurb - Eduardo Mendoza
Hannibal Lecter Trilogy - Thomas Harris
Black Cat - Jenny Maxwell
Children of the Night - Dan Simmons

Interesting to see there's not much cross over. There must not be a bellie-fan 'type' :)

"The band that is now the core of BELL X1 but at the time had a lead singer called Damien Rice - and what became of them all - sank into obscurity no doubt!" Dan Hegarty, 2FM 2006 (with tongue firmly in cheek)

Oh guys, haven't been on here since I put this thread up but am SO glad it's going so well :D :D Great selections by you all I must say.

After I posted my top 5, I kept mulling it over in my head and thinking about it and have come to the conclusion that they're probably not my top 5!!! Think it all depends on your mood and thinking power when you write a response.

Rocky wrote:5. The Butterfly Effect (ya I know but I love it for my own reasons)

Rocky, I'm so happy I've found yet another Butterfly Effect lover :) I adore that movie and probably should've put it in my top 5!!!! It's just so full of intrigue and suspense from start to finish and is really well thought out. It's the thinking person's film :D Plus Ashton Kutcher is HOT!!! So don't worry Rocky, I've got your back on that one!!

Eoin wrote:5. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

Nice one Eoin!! Love the book and film (Kiera Knightly version) equally.

And Aoife, 10 things I hate about you almost made my top 5 aswell but there you go.

Okay Okay I have to put in a few here but 5 is really hard and I guess I picked mine based on the fact that if I play any of these albums they instantly make me think of something good from years gone by :) I know sounds pathetic but that's my reason:

Top 5 Albums:
Radiohead - The Bends
REM - Automatic for the People
Bell X1 - Flock
Paul Simon - Graceland
David Gray - White Ladder

Top 5 Movies: (I'll regret this one)
Dirty Dancing
The Shawshank Redemption
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (I know technically this is 3 but lets not get technical)
Once
Love Actually (sad to admit I still cry to this one...hopeless romantic and saddo)

Top 5 Reads: (not much of a reader)
To Kill a Mockingbird
Romeo and Juilet (again technically a play I know)
Bridget Jones Diary
Short Stories - Oscar Wilde
Gone with the Wind

Once is yet another I found it hard to leave out. Cried at both those films so vinnychick, you're not alone :D in Once, it was purely the emotion put into the songs. When Glen is sitting looking at the home videos on the laptop while writing "Lies" gets me every time and so does Marketa and "The Hill". Just very moving and I cry at a lot of songs that are emotional.

Love actually is a great movie. I really don't get why so many people I talk to think it's pure crap :o :o I love it. When Hugh Grant's sister in it (sorry, names fail me at this moment in time :D) finds out her husband is cheating on her and that Joni Mitchell song is playing, oh my god :( So sad!! That ass of a hubbie of hers!!!

Ok here goes, starting with music. I'm not including any Bell X1 / Dave Geraghty, since it's just kind of unsaid that they're in the favorites. It's why I'm on here, after all! Also I have an hororable mention for each category.... it's really kind of hard to only pick 5

Albums
1. Return To Cookie Mountian - TV On the Radio
2. Grace - Jeff Buckley
3. Invoking Michaelangelo - The Floating Men
4. Jim - Jamie Lidell
5. The Garden - Zero 7
* Trouble - Ray Lamontagne

Books
1. Tuesdays With Morrie - Mitch Albom
2. The Five People You Meet In Heaven - Mitch Albom
3. For One More Day - Mitch Albom
4. The New Irish Table - (cookbook)
5. Journey Into Darkness - John Douglas
* Practical Homicide Investigation - Geberth (really, really graphic textbook from grad school)

Movies
1. Silence of the Lambs
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Closer
4. Fur
5. Someone to Watch Over Me
* Blade
