In London town, and the touring party has been struck with a bout of flu...coughing and exaggerated snoring have been the order of the past few days, and 2 nights ago in Birmingham we hit a new low and brought cups of tea on stage... Honey and Lemon Tea, folks. It'll be slippers and a blanky next.
We left Amsterdam for Munich, and then back up to Amiens for 2 nights. We were treated very well in Germany, thanks to Uli for making it so and for driving like a madman between gigs.
In Amiens we played at the Semaine du Rose festival, or "Pink Week" - the venue was decked in pink, and all the stage lighting was pink. This would probably have very different implications back home, but here it was some sort of student high-jinks and japery...or maybe the joke was on us
Went to visit Oscar Wilde's grave in Pere la Chaise in Paris. Lots of "We Love You Oscar!" grafitti on it, in many languages, including "sodomy 4eva!"...nice
Upon entering the UK, we were stopped by Kent police under suspicion of carrying too much weight and suffered the indignity of being taken to a weigh-station. The poor van went scarlet when it was revealed that she was a whole ton overweight. A crash diet program had to be followed which invloved shedding passengers and some gear, for which we had to find alternative transport. All of which massive pain in the arse meant that some of us had to hang around in a Tesco car park somewhere in Kent for 3 hours and we missed our soundcheck in Brighton...
