I pre-ordered it today too. But, being American, the delivery cost wasn't so much of an issue. The bigger issue is the lengthy wait! Loving "Nightwatchmen" though.

How much does that work out at in euro, something around €12?
I just noticed that Amsterdam Says is a bonus track on the album.

From the clips I already really like '4 Minute Mile'

".....never played for Barcelona" :)

Im still trying to figure out if that weird sound during 'Sugar High' annoys me or intrigues me.

I wonder if they will be stretching their legs with a UK tour ?

A Fri night in Manchester please ... You can also sit in with Marc Riley for a session on 6music beforehand too

I just noticed Sugar High (the full song) is up on the band's soundcloud page:

I've been listening to the new songs as they're posted, and watching the videos too, but I feel like I won't be really excited until I hear the full album. Not planning to pre-order, though, because my music budget is at its limit this month (though that's hardly an excuse!). I also feel kind of neutral about the album cover - don't love it or hate it, but am not sure that the birds fit with the title Bloodless Coup (especially with those sharp beaks :o they're a little scary looking).

That's not a bad review, once it got down to the actual music. I quite agree with this part...

Of course, with patterns and textures now taking precedence over standard song structure, the best thing to do is forget all about whether there's a sing-along line around the corner, and allow yourself to sink into the pleasing harmonies and lingering pace of 'Bloodless Coup'.

I think the patterns and textures were always there on the earlier albums (I'm thinking especially of Bad Skin Day). One of my favorite things about Bell X1 is the way the can let a melody or riff completely evolve, so that by the end of a song, it's become something completely different. Almost symphonic in that way. It's always interesting to see how far they'll let an idea go.
