Likies ... Nicely leftfield with lots of little things going on.

Hello and happy new year! Just a quick venture out from my hermit hole to see if everyone's survived 2010. I barely did, by the skin of my teeth!
Anywho, just listened to Hey Anna Lena - that's some electronic drum beat! Can't wait for Bloodless Coup this spring!
Hope everyone's well... now back to my hermit hole. :D

But the big question remains ... What does Darren think of it ?

Mully <3 Thanks for asking.

"The intro of the song lost me straight away and then the complete shift of gears after the middle 8 made me feel like I was listening to a different song." I'll agree with what my friend said about it. It also has a very Kid A feel to it, I think it's a very dull sounding song. They need to trade in the electronic beats and stuff for guitars. They're slowly turning into Radiohead after they stopped using guitars and we all know that didn't end well. I understand they need to keep their sound fresh but this is not the way. Just bring Brian back for the love of Christ. Brian, quit being a knob and come back. I'm sending Brian an email now to bring him back. Wish me luck!

Wasn't sure what to make of the song at first, but I really like it now. It's a grower!
There's a video up now for it:

Er, what?

Anyway, sort of sounds like a BLotR b-side. I agree with those who miss the more organic soundscapes. Still a decent tune.

You make an interesting point there. Please, continue.

I've heard lots of comparisons to Radiohead--not necessarily a bad thing. The other two songs I've heard from Bloodless Coup (Velcro and Safer than Love) didn't really give me that vibe, though.

I'm still puzzling over some of the lyrics. Can anyone shed some light?

Hey Anna Lena
Let's get married
Let's get out of this place
Just take what you can carry
???
Don't need much where we're goin'...

Also, in the 2nd verse, there's a line that bugs me.
May the force be with you
Because you're worth it

Does that not sound like an advertisement for some kind of beauty product? :P

For me its about childhood freindships & running away from home together. Eloping as such but more in sense of adventure ... I say children because there is a line about only being 5yrs old.

'because you're worth it' is definitely a L'Oreal nod, but Pauls lyrics have always had 'pop culture' references and jokes which we like around here.

Oh, so it actually *is* a line from an ad. I probably knew that, somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain. :P

I still can't understand what that one line is, after "just take what you can carry." I got the gist of it, I just can't make out the words.
